The BBC has developed an in house template based system, to help speed up the process of designing and developing the layout of their web sites and pages. The decision was made to create a list of all the possibilities for web layouts they would need, and the components that would go within them, thus B-Sites were created.

We were briefed to create the B-Site system as a content managed process. This involved an incredible amount of work due to the extensive requirements by different areas of the BBC. Over the course of many months, we’ve worked closely with a variety of areas within the BBC to create, refine and improve on the original plan. The system has grown exponentially over the months, and continues to evolve with each week that passes.

At aerian, we are very proud to be involved with such a large and important project with the BBC. The B-Sites work that we are involved in will help to push the limits of what the BBC can do by removing the ‘wasted’ time used up in creating existing elements for each site.
